Requirements for travelling to Colombia
The rules have changed but what travellers should bear in mind is that, although several countries have relaxed their restrictions, these can change at any time, so it is advisable to constantly review the requirements for travelling to Colombia and the restrictions
Due to the change that is depending on the behaviour of people in the regions, it is important for us to keep our travellers who want to explore Colombia informed about the recommendations for travel to be taken into account effectively and intelligently on their trip to Colombia. One of our favourite tools is the page of migration Colombia which is an official source of information
Passport
Continuing with the travel options to Colombia, there are other countries with partial closures, which means that they allow some visitors to enter but certain restrictions remain. In Colombia the situation is similar but so far for tourist travel a passport is required as an official entry document.
PCR test or vaccination card
Among the most common measures is the request for a negative covid-19 or PCR test valid for 72 hours or a vaccination card with a full schedule 14 days before entering. Other countries are more demanding and do not allow the entry of travellers coming from countries with high cases of contagion, but in Colombia we want to be more flexible and make people aware of how important self-care is.
Check Mig app
It is necessary to remember that this is one of the mandatory requirements for travelling to Colombia and you must have or download the official Colombia Chek Mig app and register to make it easier for you to enter the country and commit to complying with the biosecurity protocols already established.
Exceptional cases
We must bear in mind that immigration laws in Colombia have different restrictions or regulations for the entry of people according to their nationality and the immigration agent may require some type of visa among the requirements to travel to Colombia that is necessary for entry into the country and it also depends on whether it is on the list of countries that are required to have a visa.
General instructions for submitting a visa application:
- Have a valid passport or travel document, in good condition and with space available for visas.
- Fill in the electronic visa application form.
- All documents required other than identity or travel documents must have an issue date no more than three months before the application is registered.
- All documents from abroad must have an apostille or legalisation and an official translation into Spanish when not in this language. The official translation must be legalised or apostilled as appropriate.
- If bank statements are required, they may be submitted without an apostille or legalisation and without a translation into Spanish, if their content can be clearly established by the visa officer.
- In the case of requiring the presentation of a criminal record, when the application for this visa is presented to a Colombian consulate based in the foreigner’s country of origin, a criminal record certificate in accordance with the procedures established in that country will suffice. When the application is presented to the Internal Visa and Immigration Work Group, the judicial or criminal record may be presented certified by the consulate of the country of origin accredited in Colombia or apostilled or legalised as appropriate.
